Cannes Lions 2016

Sometimes the phone rings and it’s full steam ahead…this was definitely one of those occasions, at 5:50pm on a wednesday I get a call from McCann London asking if I am free on friday to go shoot a portrait for them, I was…next question, ‘are you free to fly to New York on monday, shoot tuesday and wednesday to fly straight back and get it all retouched and supplied for print by lunchtime on friday?’….hell yeah was the only logical response!

It turns out this project was going to be a road safety campaign for Cannes Lion festival this year to highlight the need to be careful in and around the roads. Unfortunately at last years event a young gentlemen died after being hit by a vehicle and the organisers wish for people to be more careful.

The concept was simple, photographs of iconic legends of the advertising world telling creatives to not take risks and be careful. The spin from this comes from these people spending their whole lives saying just the opposite when pushing people to open their minds and be creative. Hopefully people will see these posters of highly recognisable figures and take not.

So the friday saw me over at BBH London with the one and only Sir John Hegarty, before flying to NY on the monday morning and shooting Susan Cradle @ FCB, Cindy Gallop @ We Run The World, Khai Meng @ Ogilvy + Mather and David Lubars @ BBDO.

A bit of a whirlwind but we managed to get it all done and off to print in time….5 print ads and 5 Gif ads.
