2015 Men’s Health Heroes

It is really easy to get caught up working all of the time and forgetting about what really matters, so when the phone rang from Men’s Health and this commission came in I was really excited. With Another Digital driving the van and providing non-stop digi support, Paul Wilson’s exceptional use of words and myself taking the photos we set out on a three day tour of the country which saw us driving around 500 miles and meeting five exceptional men.

From having your ribs broken to save your life to terrible family tragedy these five gentlemen have experienced and survived more than most of us can even begin to imagine possible. It was an honour to meet each of these people and to help tell their stories, in fact I would go as far to say that this job is one of the proudest moments of my career to date. It was my responsibility to engage and create heroic imagery with each person whilst respecting their personal stories so that they didn’t look cheesy….we wanted these images to be as clear as each of the boundaries they have broken to keep their lives moving forward in a positive way.

Thanks to Jonathan Fear, Rich Smith, Jonathan Benson, Mark Ormrod and Jack Eyers for their time and for letting me tell their stories.
